Which parts are designed by Ludwig Oechslin?

  • Dials (including functional dials with gear teeth milled into the rear side for the annual calendar and moon phase)
  • 2-part case with screw-down crown
  • Custom wheels, disks and gear trains for the functions
  • Buckle (designed to be used on straps with no loops)
  • Hour hand, minute hand, second hand

Where are these parts manufactured?
The case, functional dials, gear systems, and buckles are manufactured at Peter Cantieni’s workshop in Hinwil, Switzerland. Cantieni formerly machined precision titanium parts for the Swiss Formula 1 team Sauber. The crown is manufactured by Pibor in Switzerland’s Jura mountains, and the hands are manufactured by Estima in Grenchen, Switzerland. In summer 2015, we began working with Helfenstein Mechanik AG (more information on the partners page).

What materials are used?

  • Grade 5 titanium (case, buckle, crown)
  • Sterling silver 925 (alternative – case, buckle, crown)
  • Brass (dial, gears)
  • Others upon request

How are the case, buckle and crown finished?
ochs und junior watches have visible machining marks which show the precision of Cantieni’s workmanship. This way, you can see how the parts have been manufactured.

Standard parts

Where are the base movements manufactured?
The ETA 2824-2 and Ulysse Nardin UN-118 base movements are manufactured in Switzerland.

Where are the crystals manufactured?
Stettler manufactures our crystals in Lyss, Switzerland.


Where is the sturgeon strap manufactured?
The sturgeon straps are tanned in Steffisburg, Switzerland, and lasered and sewn by Sabina Brägger in Lucerne, Switzerland. The fish are raised in the Tropenhaus in Frutigen, Switzerland.

Where are the leather and suede straps manufactured?
The eco-tanned calf and suede leather straps are designed by ochs und junior and manufactured at Braloba in Lengnau, Switzerland.

Where are the rubber straps manufactured?
The rubber strap is manufactured from natural rubber by Biwi in Glovelier, Switzerland.


Where are the patination processes performed?
Peter Cantieni performs the gray patination at his workshop in Hinwil, Switzerland.





Where are ochs und junior watches assembled?
The ochs und junior workspace located at Zürichstrasse 49, Lucerne, Switzerland.

Who assembles the watches?
Watchmaker Sandra Flück has joined the ochs und junior team in summer 2014. Flück assembles the watches and further develops them together with Ludwig Oechslin.


How are ochs und junior watches regulated?
The cased watch is hand-regulated in 5 positions to 0/+5 seconds per day.


What is the warranty on the workmanship?
All parts developed and manufactured by ochs und junior (including the case, gear systems, and buckles) are guaranteed for life. The entire watch is guaranteed for 2 years. More details are available here.





Which parts can be colored?
All dial components, including:

  • Dial surface
  • Hour, minute, second hand/disk
  • Date, month, weekday disks and dots
  • Full moon, new moon, moon disk
  • Time zone disk and numbers

What colors are possible?
You can choose the color you like in our online customizer tools, or you can send us a picture. We can match the color for the dial component in question. In principle, any color is possible.

Where is the color applied?
ochs und junior dial components are colored by Cador, a family-run firm located on the German border with Switzerland.
