The highest city in Europe is located in the Neuchâtel Jura and is well connected. Travelling by train from Zurich, Bern or Basel is easy and uncomplicated with hourly trains. The city is also connected to the Swiss motorway network and is therefore easily accessible by car.
Zurich Airport
The most direct route to La Chaux-de-Fonds from all corners of the world is via Zurich Airport (ZRH). The largest airport in Switzerland offers logistically perfect service: Shortly after arrival you are already on the train – there is a direct train to Biel/Bienne once an hour.There you change to the regional express to La Chaux-de-Fonds and find yourself in the watch metropolis in 2 hours and 20 minutes.
Tickets can be purchased on the platform, at the blue ticket machines. Payment by credit card is possible. Or you can rent a car and explore the surrounding area. However, you should be aware that the streets of La Chaux-de-Fonds can be very snowy in winter.
Geneva Airport
From Geneva Airport (GVA), the journey to La Chaux-de-Fonds takes about <2 hours by train. The trip along Lake Geneva through the vineyards, which have been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a real treat.
Arrival at La Chaux-de-Fonds station
The train station of La Chaux-de-Fonds is centrally located on Rue Leopold Robert (also called Pod). The Pod is the lowest point of the valley where Chaux-de-Fonds is located and is therefore the main artery of the city. A 10-minute walk away, you will find the headquarters of ochs und junior at 143 rue Numa-Droz – but if you take the smaller streets of the city on the way, the walk may be longer. If you prefer to take the bus, go to the bus stop on the far left of the station, buy a ticket from the phone and take bus no. 304 towards Les Eplatures Nord. Get off at the Fusion station. Opposite the station is the Villa Grieshaber (143 rue Numa-Droz), where the Ochs and Junior studios are located.
Seasons
In Switzerland you can feel the four seasons and each one has its own charm and magic. In spring, the Jura is green. The temperatures in summer are pleasant. The nearby Jura heights are also quickly and easily reached. Once autumn has arrived, all the wonderful food of the season can be discovered at the weekly market, and in winter you can often enjoy the abundant snowfall in La Chaux-de-Fonds.
