A Special Watch for a Special Year

The holiday season is approaching, and our 20th anniversary year is slowly but surely drawing to a close. To mark the occasion, we have come up with something special for the 2026 Holiday Edition. We dedicate it to Ludwig Oechslin’s perpetual calendar, a watch that embodies his vision of intelligent, radically simplified watchmaking.

With his perpetual calendar, Ludwig has solved one of watchmaking’s most demanding complications in his own distinctive way. Back in 1996, the Perpetual Ludwig, which he developed for Ulysse Nardin, demonstrated that a perpetual calendar could be adjusted both forwards and backwards using the crown. He carries this idea forward at ochs und junior: Rather than relying on conventional complex constructions involving numerous levers and springs, he uses a system of rotating gears comprising just nine additional and three modified components. A mechanically elegant solution to a mathematically and astronomically demanding problem. The gear system accounts for varying month lengths and leap years. The date, month and leap year are displayed in the characteristic ochs und junior manner, using dots and holes. All calendar functions can be adjusted conveniently via the crown, with the date, here too, adjustable in both directions.

At its heart is the high-quality Ulysse Nardin UN-118 manufacture calibre, produced in Le Locle. The automatic movement with 50 jewels offers a power reserve of 60 hours, which can also be read directly from the dial.

For the Holiday Edition 2026, we have combined this exceptional watch mechanism with an equally distinctive aesthetic appearance: At its center is the interplay of two different surface finishes: a finely sandblasted, anthracite-black dial meets a pronounced circular graining in its inner section. While the matte surface diffuses light evenly, the circular graining produces subtle reflections depending on the viewing angle. This contrast gives the dial a subtle sense of depth and brings the different textures to life.

The 42 mm case is made from Grade 5 titanium. The month and date discs, along with the power reserve, seconds and leap-year displays, feature an anthracite-black PVD finish. Fine white gold decorations on the hour and minute hands, as well as on the power reserve indicator, control dot, seconds dot and leap-year indicator, complete the design. The strap is available in sizes S, M, L and XL, according to preference. Like all our watches, the Holiday Edition is hand-assembled and regulated in our atelier in La Chaux-de-Fonds.

As our 20th anniversary year draws to a close, we would like to offer our customers something special. By producing the watches together as a series, we can offer the perpetual calendar as the Holiday Edition 2026 for CHF 15,000 (Exportprice), passing the resulting cost savings directly on to our customers.

The Holiday Edition 2026 can be ordered up to and including 6 January 2027. After that, it will be removed from our collection.

Orders received with a 50% deposit by 15 November 2026 (inclusive) will be delivered before 24 December. Later orders will be shipped in early 2027.
