The oj coffee bar is living its best (second) life!
Ever since we moved from Lucerne to La Chaux-de-Fonds, we’ve gotten one question more than any other.
Surprisingly, it is not even about watches! “Whatever happened to the oj kitchen and espresso-machine?”
When we opened the ochs space back in 2012, we equipped it with a small kitchen – complete with an Italian espresso machine.
8 years later, as we prepared to move our base of operations from Lucerne to La Chaux-de-Fonds, one important question had to be answered – what should we do with the oj kitchen and coffee bar?
Ludwig Oechslin thought for a moment, and suggested that we send it to friends of ours in Italy. Nearly ten years since its debut on Zürichstrasse, we are happy to inform you that the ochs coffee bar is enjoying a highly active second life. For nearly a year, it has made its home in Aqui Terme in the Piedmontese Podere Moirano (https://www.podemo.it) where Barbara Vlachos and Rolf Kästli have built a new center for permaculture (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permaculture). It is an ideal place for short stays and longer vacations, for corporate retreats, workshops and training seminars. The coffee bar is now bringing people together to talk about nature, sustainability, life, culture, design… maybe even watches! Hence no longer a mystery, the coffee bar has crossed t he border and returned to the place of its birth – Italy!
