Launched by ochs und junior for the first time in 2018 as a one-off, Ludwig Oechslin’s astronomical complication is now available in the ochs line as a series watch and is presented here in a new patina developed in our La Chaux-de-Fonds atelier. This “radically simple version of one of watchmaking’s most romantic complications” (Jack Forster, Hodinkee, 2019), is a watch that allows you to “Run to Catch Up with the Sun” (tapir_ffm, Fifth Wrist). It is presented in an elegant minimalist design with brass (daytime) and patina (dial & nighttime). The sun and moon are finished in hammered 24-carat yellow gold and hammered PT950 platinum. The hands and indexes on the dial contrast with this in lightly polished brass. The patination of the dial, night time and date disc changes its color aesthetics from dark blue-black and brownish to violet and eggplant depending on the incidence of light.
The ochs line day/night in 40mm indicates the length of day and nighttime for a selected location, sunset, sunrise, solar noon, moon phase, sun and moon position in the sky, date, hour, and minute.
Ludwig Oechslin’s complication is available for both the northern and southern hemispheres.
The ochs line day/night is available at the price of CHF 10,700 (export price without VAT) / CHF 11,566.70 (incl. Swiss VAT).
